Tiny Maestros

Classical music adventures for ages 0-5. We'll move, dance and play our instruments as we discover fantastic, exciting music!  This term we're off on a journey through 1000 years of music...

What to Bring

Every week, we need:
- Floaty scarves, teatowels or muslins to play peekaboo (2 each is good for older children in case we need wings!)
- Something that rattles (a little milk carton or spice jar with rice is good...)
- Something a bit like a drum (saucepan and wooden spoon?)

- Bubbles, if you have them

Some weeks, we need some extra props:
27 April - MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE MUSIC - Jingle bells if you have them, and 2 claves/wooden spoons to tap together!
4 May - BAROQUE MUSIC - A piece of fabric you can hold together (perhaps a medium sized towel, cot sheet, play parachute or a large scarf?)
11 May - CLASSICAL MUSIC - No special props
18 May - ROMANTIC MUSIC - No special props
25 May - FAVOURITES - No special props
Props are completely optional and you'll still enjoy joining in without them!

Good to Know

  • We have different ways to join in with different ages - babies might bounce on your knee while toddlers walk around holding your hands, and preschoolers zoom around the room!
  • You might want to choose a room with a bit of space to move around, though you can adapt the movements if you need to stay in one spot!
  • This is a lovely class for siblings of different ages to join in with, and primary-age children often love it just as much as the little ones!
  • The class is based on listening to recorded and live classical music - try to model great listening to your child to help them engage with the sounds, but they will inevitably join in in their own special and unique way!  It's totally fine if they participate in a different way to everyone else.
  • You might want to experiment with different setups (e.g. a bluetooth speaker if you have one) to get the best possible sound quality.
  • We get together for a cuppa about 15 minutes before class - do join us if you can
